Set against the backdrop of the 2024 Rolex 24 At Daytona, the inaugural IMSA Driving Innovation Technology Forum, powered by rEvolution, saw speed and precision converge in a transformative gathering united by a passion for motorsports and technological advancements.
The theme, “Exploring the Impact of Progressive Technology in Motorsport,” set the stage for a dynamic panel discussion featuring esteemed experts from both the motorsport and technology realms. Held in the prestigious setting of the International Motorsports Center, headquarters to both NASCAR and IMSA, the event was a testament to the shared passion for motorsports and technological advancement that unites IMSA and rEvolution.
“Our collaboration with IMSA underscores rEvolution’s dedication to foster innovation and spark meaningful conversations within the sports industry,” said John Rowady, founder and CEO of rEvolution.
Moderated by esteemed NBC Sports anchorman Leigh Diffey, the forum brought together a diverse audience of automotive and technology industry leaders in a standing-room only atmosphere. With luminaries such as Matt Kurdock (Senior Technical Director, IMSA); Jacob Bergenske (Director, Bosch Motorsport North America); Shawn Henry (Chief Security Officer, CrowdStrike); CJ Moses (Chief Information Security Officer, Amazon); Steve Clayton (VP Communications Strategy, Microsoft); and Taylor Newill (Senior Director, Oracle), the panel delivered insights into the evolving landscape of motorsport technology.
Central to the event was the recognition of IMSA’s position as North America’s premier technologically advanced sports car platform bridging the gap between the motorsport community and technology leaders. Attendees were not only treated to thought-provoking discussions but also enjoyed exclusive VIP experiences, complimentary credentials, parking, and hospitality for the race weekend. It was a fusion of education and entertainment, offering a unique opportunity to witness the future of motorsports unfold in real-time.
“Our inaugural event with IMSA at the Rolex 24 at Daytona was a sellout. The energy in the room was fantastic and the panelists were top notch,” said Julie Barnard, EVP, rEvolution. “It was a privilege to bring together the world of racing and technology experts.”
IMSA also leveraged Rolex 24 to spotlight the capabilities innovative data and technological advancements provide to deepen fan engagement. In partnership with AWS (Amazon Web Services), IMSA launched a new fan telemetry service that provided real-time telemetry for all Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) entries showing Energy Regeneration, Energy Remaining, Speed, Gear, Brake/Throttle levels, and Pit Status. The real-time availability of data brought fans closer to the event, connecting brands to fan passion through data innovation.
Looking ahead, the collaboration between IMSA and rEvolution is poised for expansion. Plans are underway to host similar events during other premier racing weekends, including Monterey Car Week in August 2024.
