HELPING A GLOBAL LEADER CONVERT ON A WORLD STAGE

Overview

In 2021, the rEvolution-Stellar Partners team was appointed by Capgemini, the global leader in consulting, technology services and digital transformation, to lead the negotiations with World Rugby as the two parties looked to secure a Rugby World Cup 2023 partnership, ultimately leading to Capgemini becoming a Worldwide Partner of RWC23, and a Global Partner of World Rugby.

The Launch

On the 6 September 2021, Capgemini became the fourth Worldwide Partner of Rugby World Cup France 2023, joining Societe Generale, Mastercard and Asahi as a top tier partner to World Rugby’s marquee event, and expanding their support of rugby that extends over 30 years and currently includes the Global Innovation Partnership of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

With the partnership signed, rEvolution’s Communications, Creative and Content Production teams stepped in, alongside associates Stellar Partners, to coordinate the global launch announcement.

 

Internal Announcement

To coincide with the Global Executive Committee meeting, rEvolution’s Creative team designed a bespoke Capgemini rugby activity area in which to engage and excite key Capgemini executives and announce the new partnership. Capgemini Executives enjoyed exclusive access to the Webb Ellis Cup, time with Sean Fitzpatrick, rugby activities and a premiere of the partnership hero film.

rEvolution’s communication team worked tirelessly to gather content on the day, managing media interviews and a photo shoot with Sean Fitzpatrick along with CEO of World Rugby, Alan Gilpin and Capgemini’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Virginie Regis. rEvolution oversaw content capture on the day, including dedicated photography and video crews.

 

Global Media Release

rEvolution were at the center of the global launch, live from Capgemini’s head office in Paris, coordinating the press release, video interviews, imagery, graphics and the hero video across all Capgemini and World Rugby channels, as well as to selected media.

The launch announcement outperformed the average of the previous three Worldwide Partner announcements, achieving 4 times more page views across World Rugby website channels, and generated over 420,000 impressions across World Rugby’s social media.

 

The Hero Film

rEvolution’s Creative and Content Production teams worked hand in hand to create an engaging and emotive hero film. Featuring All Black legend, Sean Fitzpatrick, the video explored the evolution of rugby, and how technology has helped to drive the game forward, as well as drawing on the shared values of Capgemini and World Rugby. The video was produced in over 30 different size/length edits and included English, Japanese and French subtitles.
