We’re bringing hardware back from San Francisco! Last night, Chipotle and rEvolution won a Silver EX Award for the category of Best Activation of a Sports Sponsorship.

The winning campaign? The Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game, the crown jewel of their MLS partnership.

“Research revealed that Chipotle customers share a close alignment with Major League Soccer fans. So the brand created Cultivating Youth Soccer, a program that ties back to Chipotle’s “Cultivate a Better World” campaign,” Event Marketer wrote in their latest issue. “Post-event surveying revealed that two out of three MLS fans were more likely to eat at Chipotle in the future as a result of the sponsorship. Delicious.”

Chipotle and rEvolution were up against Johnson & Johnson’s 2014 FIFA World Cup activation, which brought home the top prize in the category. Audi received the Gold for their Football Summit activation.

The 2015 EX Awards, around the Event Marketer Summit, showcases the best marketing campaigns from leading brands across the globe. This year, more than 1,000 entries were submitted (an EX Award record).

rEvolution will be in San Francisco at the Event Marketer Summit all week! On Wednesday, rEvolution EVP of Opportunity Garret Mudd will be speaking with Continental Tire’s head marketer Travis Roffler on sports sponsorships for non-endemic brands.
